What is the Depancel Serie-R Cruiser?
The Serie-R Cruiser is an automatic watch from French brand Depancel, drawing on café racer motorcycles, cruisers and motorsport design. Its square case is described by Depancel as inspired by a radiator grille. The model followed the Serie-R F-Back in the brand’s lineup.
In his 31 October 2022 launch article, Erik Slaven described the watch as “an intriguing piece that really provides a Monaco-like vibe at a fraction of the cost.” That is the author’s design and value impression, not a measured comparison; no current price comparison with the TAG Heuer Monaco is established here.
Design details
The dial combines Côtes de Genève decoration with a circular brushed effect beneath the hour markers and matte corners. Visible corner screws, crown guards, a raised index ring and red accents reinforce the mechanical, automotive character. A power-reserve indicator is styled like a fuel gauge.

The 24-hour subdial indicates day or night in step with the central hands. It is not a second-time-zone display or a chronograph. The visual references are specific, but the watch remains a conventional three-hand automatic with additional calendar and reserve indications.

Case-size and water-resistance discrepancies
Case dimensions
Depancel’s current international listing gives the case as 43 × 36 mm. Slaven’s 2022 launch article gives a 42 × 36 mm measurement. These figures differ in the first dimension; the available information does not explain the change, so use the current product listing when checking present specifications.

Water resistance
Both current official product pages state 50 m, but they disagree on the accompanying ATM figure: the French page says 5 ATM, while the international page says 10 ATM. The discrepancy is unresolved. Confirm the applicable rating directly with Depancel before relying on an ATM figure or deciding whether the watch suits a particular water activity.
Strap fit and warranty
The Cruiser has 22 mm lugs. The launch article describes brown or black leather straps with pin or deployant buckle choices; the current Dark Green listing also shows calfskin in black or brown and those buckle types. A 22 mm strap is not automatically compatible: check its end shape, length and buckle or clasp fit before ordering.

Brand background
Slaven’s 2022 article says Depancel was founded in 2018, takes inspiration from cars and motorcycles, and takes its name from Delage, Panhard and Facel Vega. Those details are attributed to that article rather than independently verified corporate history.
