The Dietrich SD-2 Missions Maritimes is a 38.5 mm steel automatic skin-diver-style watch with a 150 m water-resistance rating, a date-free sandwich dial and an aluminum bezel insert. Its launch-era price was USD 1,150 in May 2022; that historical figure does not establish today’s price or availability.
What the SD-2 is—and what its rating tells you
Dietrich presented the SD-2 as a skin diver and amphibious field watch. Specialist watch publications reported a 150 m water-resistance rating, but that number alone does not establish approval for a particular activity. No manufacturer manual or activity guidance is available in the cited coverage, so check the watch’s current official documentation before relying on it in water.
The case is stainless steel and measures 38.5 mm across. Published dimensions differ slightly: Monochrome reports 12.6 mm thick and 46.2 mm lug-to-lug, while Fratello reports 12.9 mm thick and 46 mm lug-to-lug. Both give a 20 mm lug width. The small case diameter and sub-47 mm reported length point to a relatively compact footprint, though fit also depends on wrist shape and strap choice. (Monochrome; Fratello)
How the SD-2 changes the SD-1
The main shift is from the SD-1’s more unusual sapphire elements to a more conventional tool-watch construction. Monochrome describes the SD-1 as having a sapphire bezel insert and a central sapphire disc; on the SD-2, the bezel insert is anodized aluminum and the dial uses a sandwich construction. The SD-2 also drops the date display.

- Water Resistance: Designed for durability, this timepiece boasts a 100M water resistance rating, making it suitable for swimming and other water-related activities, while also providing peace of mind in rainy conditions.
- Durable Nylon Strap: Crafted from a lightweight and comfortable nylon material, the strap offers both flexibility and resilience, ensuring a secure and comfortable fit for everyday wear.
- Date Display Functionality: Equipped with a date display function, this watch allows you to keep track of important dates effortlessly, enhancing its utility as a daily accessory.
- Noctilumnt Visibility: The watch face is treated with a luminescent coating that glows in low-light conditions, ensuring that time can be read easily even in dimly lit environments, adding to its practicality.
- Bezel: Unidirectional rotating bezel with an anodized aluminum insert, 15-minute scale and luminous triangle.
- Dial: Luminous material sits beneath cut-out indices in the sandwich dial. Launch coverage showed Azure Blue and Abyss Black versions.
- Crystal: Sapphire; Monochrome reports five anti-reflective coatings.
- Date: No date window on the SD-2, despite the date function in its reported movement.
Monochrome characterizes the result as a more rugged, tool-like evolution of the SD-1. The design changes support that description, but do not by themselves establish greater durability or water-use capability.
Movement and practical specifications
The reported movement is the automatic Sellita SW200, with 26 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and a 38-hour power reserve. Although the movement has a date function, Dietrich’s SD-2 dial does not show one. That makes the watch time-only in use and avoids a date window interrupting the dial layout.

- DIVER-INSPIRED DESIGN — Inspired by the sea, the MDV-106G is styled after classic dive watches and delivers 200-meter water resistance at an unbeatable price point. The black resin band and stainless steel case give it a classic look, while the anti-reverse rotary bezel adds authentic dive-watch character.
- STAINLESS STEEL CASE WITH SCREW-LOCK CROWN & CASEBACK — The MDV-106G features a stainless steel case and a reliable screw-lock crown for enhanced water resistance protection. Screw-down crown and screw-lock caseback work together to keep the movement sealed and secure during water activities — a construction standard found on dive watches far above this price range.
- LARGE FLUORESCENT HANDS & INDICES FOR INSTANT READABILITY — The dial features hands and hour indices with large fluorescent areas for easy reading in low-light and underwater conditions. The clean 3-hand analog layout with date display at 3 o'clock keeps the dial uncluttered and immediately legible at a glance.
- 44MM STAINLESS STEEL CASE | 22MM LUG WIDTH | MINERAL GLASS — The case measures 44mm in diameter, 12mm in height, with a 49mm lug-to-lug length and a standard 22mm lug width — making strap upgrades effortless with a vast range of aftermarket options. Mineral glass protects the dial from everyday scratches and impacts.
- 3-YEAR BATTERY & 200M WATER RESISTANCE — Powered by an SR626SW battery with an approximate 3-year life, the case measures 49.5 × 46.3 × 12.1mm and weighs 92 grams. At 200 meters of water resistance, the Duro is versatile and suitable for all situations — whether in the water, hiking, running, or at the office.

What the hands-on coverage says
Fratello’s Nacho Conde Garzón wrote that he wore the SD-2 on a weekend bike ride by the sea in The Hague and found it legible in direct sunlight. That is the author’s reported impression, not a controlled legibility test or a guarantee for every lighting condition.
The Time Bum noted that its review watch was an early production sample and that lume and crosshair details were expected to change before customer delivery. Sample-specific observations should therefore not be treated as definitive final-production specifications.

Fratello and Monochrome reported a USD 1,150 price when the watch launched in May 2022. Fratello specifies that the price included shipping and excluded VAT. Monochrome also gave an approximate contemporaneous conversion of EUR 1,085; that is not a current conversion or price.

Monochrome described the SD-2 as a non-limited edition and reported expected deliveries in Q4 2022. Those were launch-era terms, not evidence of present stock. The sources do not establish a current official price, inventory, resale value or authorized seller for the original Missions Maritimes versions. A retailer listing separately identified a Militare Green exclusive, but its present availability is not established (Gnomon Watches).
Launch coverage reported Azure Blue and Abyss Black dials, paired with a choice of black textile NATO or black/blue NBR rubber straps. Before buying now, confirm the reference, dial color, condition, seller authorization, included strap and final delivered price directly with the seller.
Who the SD-2 may suit
The SD-2’s compact reported dimensions, 20 mm strap width, date-free dial and rotating bezel give it a straightforward everyday-watch specification. Its design is a better fit for someone drawn to the SD-1’s distinctive concept but preferring the SD-2’s aluminum bezel and sandwich dial. Buyers seeking a date display, a longer stated power reserve or documented activity-specific water-use guidance should verify those needs separately before purchase.
