How do the 37 mm and 40 mm sizes compare?
40 mm Purist
DUG lists the 40 mm case at 40 mm in diameter, 10.95 mm thick, and 47.5 mm lug-to-lug. The Typ 1 listing specifies a 20 mm strap lug. These dimensions can help compare the watch with one you already own, but a case’s diameter alone does not determine how it wears; lug-to-lug length, thickness, wrist shape, and strap all matter. 37 mm Purist
The 37 mm Purist is a separate case-size option, not just a smaller dial treatment. Fratello’s review examined 40 mm examples and notes that both dial types are also offered at 37 mm; DUG’s collection page lists black, white, and blue variants. The cited product information does not establish the 37 mm case’s thickness or lug-to-lug measurement, so do not assume those dimensions match the 40 mm model.
For a practical fit check, compare diameter and lug-to-lug length with a watch that wears well on your wrist, then consider whether the dial layout and case thickness suit your preferences. The available specifications do not support a universal wrist-size rule for choosing 37 mm or 40 mm.

What are the case and dial made of?
DUG specifies a three-part stainless-steel case, sapphire crystal, and sapphire display back for the Typ 1. Its case description identifies both polished and brushed surfaces with a bevel. The independent Fratello review identifies the steel as 316L stainless steel and describes the contrast between polished and brushed areas; the alloy grade is attributed here to that review.

What movement and water resistance does it have?
DUG calls the automatic movement the DUG 400 and says it is based on the Sellita SW 400. Fratello identifies the base movement as the Sellita SW400-1 and reports a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and a 40-hour power reserve. The available information does not establish a movement or performance difference between Typ 1 and Typ 2.
DUG lists the 40 mm Typ 1 at 100 meters / 10 ATM water resistance. That is the manufacturer’s rating, not an independent dive-test result; consult the relevant current product listing for the exact configuration you are considering.
