In Sandra Lane’s 2018 hands-on review, that made it a watch-or-jewellery proposition; the practical answer depends on the reference, since the collection spans different materials and diamond settings.
How the 2.55 clasp becomes part of the watch
The CODE COCO’s defining feature is not simply a decorative clasp on a conventional watch. The turnlock sits at the center of a double-dial arrangement and is used to open and secure the bracelet. As Time+Tide journalist Sandra Lane put it in her 7 November 2018 review, “The fastener of the celebrated 2.55 handbag has been transferred directly – almost literally – to form the double dial.” Chanel’s current US collection likewise describes the design through its iconic turnlock clasp and quilted bracelet motif.

That direct reference to the 2.55 gives CODE COCO its strongest identity: it reads as a piece of Chanel design jewelry while remaining a functioning timepiece. The balance is personal. Lane described the watch in terms of the tension between “Watch or jewellery?”—a useful way to think about its appearance, not a claim that it will suit every wrist or style.
What the hands-on review says about wearing it
Lane reported that the bracelet’s ceramic cubes draped fluidly on her wrist and praised its light weight. Those are her impressions from wearing the watch, not independently measured comfort or weight results. Bracelet material and configuration also vary across the collection, so the experience of one version should not be assumed for every CODE COCO.

Movement and timekeeping functions
CODE COCO is a quartz watch, not a mechanical watch. Lane’s review identifies a high-precision quartz movement, and Chanel lists a high-precision quartz movement with hours-and-minutes functions for the H6027. The published specification does not list a seconds display or additional complications.
The collection is broader than the H6027
Chanel’s current US collection includes CODE COCO versions in steel, ceramic, gold and leather. References differ in materials, settings and price, and the collection page’s prices and availability can change. There is no single “best” CODE COCO without first deciding whether bracelet material, diamond setting, fit or budget matters most.

H6027: one specific specification
For H6027, Chanel lists a 38.1 × 21.5 × 7.8 mm case, a steel case construction, and a black highly resistant ceramic and steel bracelet. Its bezel is set with 52 brilliant-cut diamonds (approximately 0.58 carat). The dial carries 152 brilliant-cut diamonds (approximately 0.51 carat) and one princess-cut diamond (approximately 0.05 carat). Chanel lists 30 m water resistance.
These figures apply to H6027 only; they should not be carried over to other references. A 30 m water-resistance rating is a product specification, not a statement that every CODE COCO has the same rating or that this reference is intended for swimming.

What to compare before choosing a reference
- Reference and materials: check the exact model number and whether its bracelet uses steel, ceramic, gold or leather.
- Setting: verify the diamond configuration for that reference; H6027’s counts are not collection-wide.
- Size and wrist fit: use the dimensions for the specific model and ask Chanel about sizing. Chanel directs customers to a Fine Jewelry boutique for sizing.
- Movement and functions: check the reference’s specifications rather than assuming every model has identical details.
- Water resistance: confirm the rating on the individual product page.
- Price, availability and service: check your region’s current listing and local boutique terms.
H6027 price and availability in the United States
Chanel’s US H6027 listing showed a suggested price of $17,600 and marked the watch unavailable when accessed in 2026. Treat both the price and stock status as a dated snapshot, not a quote or availability guarantee. Neither figure establishes the price or availability of other CODE COCO references or of the collection in another region.
Warranty, manufacture and service
For H6027, Chanel says its watches are developed and assembled at the brand’s Swiss Manufacture. Its product page lists a five-year warranty and selected complimentary maintenance services. Service coverage and terms can depend on location and conditions, so confirm the current details with Chanel or a local Fine Jewelry boutique.

Who CODE COCO is for
CODE COCO makes its case through a specific design idea: the quilted bracelet and handbag turnlock are not incidental styling, but the watch’s visual and functional center. The quartz movement and hours-and-minutes display keep its timekeeping brief, while the range of materials and settings means the exact look—and the relevant specifications—depend on the reference. It is most compelling for someone who wants a conspicuously Chanel piece that can sit between watch and jewellery, rather than a conventional watch whose appeal rests on mechanical complexity.
