The Ventura v-matic EGO was announced in 2019 as a return for Ventura Watches: a distinctive design associated with the 1990s, paired with a titanium case and an ETA 2892-A2 automatic movement. The launch article identified two versions, VM11.01 and VM11.02. It does not establish that either reference is currently available, or what either would cost today.
What was the Ventura v-matic EGO?
In his July 9, 2019 launch article, Fratello’s Michael Stockton presented the v-matic EGO as the return of Ventura Watches. He reported that Ventura was founded in 1989, drew attention in 1994 with designs associated with Swiss designer Hannes Wettstein, and stopped production in the early 2010s. According to Stockton’s account, Stephan Hurlemann, a friend and colleague of Wettstein, began restarting the brand in 2016. The EGO was announced as the relaunch watch, initially planned for Kickstarter.
Stockton framed the design as a reminder of a period when independent designers were experimenting with watches. He wrote: “A watch like the original ventura v-matic EGO is a bright spot during the era and marks a time when things like Ikepod existed and a few other cutting edge designers were able to put their efforts into wristwear.” That is his editorial assessment, rather than a measurable product feature.
VM11.01 and VM11.02: the launch variants
Fratello’s 2019 article names VM11.01 as the satin version and VM11.02 as the black version. The distinction reported is visual: a satin sandblasted dial for VM11.01 and a black dial for VM11.02. The source does not report a performance or movement difference between them.

Orbita’s movement support database separately lists an ETA 2892-A2 base for the VM11/VM11L v-matic EGO, corroborating the movement identification for that reference family. Orbita also lists other EGO-family references with different movement bases, so the 2892-A2 should not be assumed to describe every Ventura watch called EGO. This cross-check does not establish present-day stock, service support, or the condition of a used example.

What did the v-matic EGO cost at launch?
Fratello reported the following historical prices in 2019. They are launch-era figures, not current asking prices or an estimate of present market value.

If you are looking for one, use the exact reference numbers or the phrase “ventura v-matic EGO watch” when checking sellers, and verify the listing’s reference, condition, included bracelet or strap, and asking price directly. The reported 20 mm lug width may help identify the attachment size, but it does not by itself verify compatibility with a particular replacement strap; confirm the watch’s actual fittings before buying one.

The EGO’s appeal in the launch coverage rests on the contrast between a design presented as a return to Ventura’s earlier independent-watch identity and familiar mechanical-watch hardware: a titanium case and ETA automatic movement. The two references appear to differ in dial treatment, not in documented performance.

What the historical launch coverage cannot answer is whether either model is still obtainable through Ventura, an authorized seller, or a verified secondary-market listing, or what a fair current price would be. Those details require a current listing and an assessment of the individual watch; the 2019 figures are not a substitute.
