For a Tudor dive watch you can wear every day, start by trying the Black Bay 54 and Black Bay 58 in the exact bracelet or strap configuration you would buy. The 54 is the more compact choice; the 58 has a slightly larger footprint. Consider a Pelagos FXD if you specifically want a titanium tool-watch design with fixed strap bars and a longer case. The right fit depends on how each watch sits on your wrist and under your cuffs—not wrist circumference alone.
Which Tudor dive watches should you compare first?
The Black Bay 54 and Black Bay 58 are the clearest starting points for everyday wear. Both have a 200 m water-resistance specification and current bracelet or rubber-strap configurations with T-fit adjustment. The Pelagos FXD is a different proposition: a larger titanium case built around fixed strap bars and a fabric-strap approach.

How should you judge whether a case will fit?
Do not choose by diameter alone. A watch’s lug-to-lug length, thickness, and lug width all affect its footprint, how it clears a cuff, and which strap choices are available. These measurements help narrow the field, but they cannot predict how a particular watch will feel on an individual wrist.
- Diameter gives a useful first comparison, but it does not tell you how far the lugs extend.
- Lug-to-lug length helps show how much of the wrist the case spans.
- Thickness matters if you want the watch to sit neatly beneath a sleeve.
- Lug width and clasp or strap affect the available fit and adjustment choices.
The 54’s 46 mm lug-to-lug and the 58’s 47.8 mm are close enough on paper that trying both is more useful than assuming the difference will settle the choice. The FXD’s 52 mm lug-to-lug makes it a visibly longer-footprint option by specification.

Black Bay 54 vs Black Bay 58: what is the practical difference?
The Black Bay 54 is the more compact of these two Black Bay examples: its cited blue-model specification is 37 mm across, 11.2 mm thick, and 46 mm lug-to-lug. The Black Bay 58 measures 39 mm across, 11.7 mm thick, and 47.8 mm lug-to-lug in Tudor’s 2026 specification. That is a modest difference in the listed dimensions, so the better everyday choice is the one that feels balanced on your wrist and works with your usual sleeves.

Tudor lists the 54 with the COSC-certified MT5400 and approximately 70 hours of power reserve; the 58’s MT5400-U is COSC- and METAS-certified, with a 65-hour certified reserve. These are manufacturer specifications, not a basis for inferring a difference in daily comfort.

When does the Pelagos FXD make more sense?
Choose the Pelagos FXD for its titanium tool-watch character and fixed-bar construction, not as a direct substitute for a smaller Black Bay. The cited reference measures 42 mm in diameter, 12.75 mm thick, and 52 mm lug-to-lug. Its fixed bars mean it is designed around a different strap setup from the Black Bays’ bracelet and rubber options.
FXD specifications vary across references. Verify the exact model’s water-resistance rating and movement on its Tudor page rather than applying figures from one FXD variant to another.
What should you check when trying one on?
- Try the actual configuration. Test the bracelet or rubber strap you intend to wear; a different strap or clasp can change the way a watch sits and adjusts.
- Check the case across your wrist. Look at whether the lugs extend past the wrist and whether the watch feels proportionate from above and from the side.
- Test sleeve clearance. Wear or bring a typical cuff and see whether the case catches or feels awkward beneath it.
- Adjust the fit. Check how the bracelet clasp or strap accommodates your wrist, including the range of adjustment you need during the day.
- Compare the leading models back to back. If both the 54 and 58 are available, wear each in its intended configuration rather than relying on dimensions alone.
Tudor directs buyers to its official retailers. Trying on the exact reference at a retailer can resolve fit questions that listed dimensions cannot.
What do the dive-watch specifications mean for daily use?
The Black Bay 54 and 58 are both specified for 200 m water resistance. That rating does not remove the need to use the watch as instructed: Tudor says the crown must be fully screwed down after it has been handled. Its Black Bay 54 page explains that the unidirectional bezel is used to measure dive time and turns in one direction for safety; it is made deliberately harder to turn when the zero marker is at 12 o’clock to reduce accidental rotation.
