What is the Seiko SRPM09?
Often listed as SRPM09K1, the SRPM09 is a Seiko 5 Sports Field-series automatic watch created with streetwear brand HUF. Seiko describes it as a reinterpretation of an archival 1970s model known as the “Time Sonar.” The limited edition is restricted to 7,000 pieces, with “LIMITED EDITION” and an individual serial number engraved on the case back. What makes the design distinctive?
The visual focus is a semi-transparent HUF Green dial, which gives the watch its “Time Sonar” character while keeping the display readable. The HUF logo sits at 6 o’clock. A matching green exhibition case back reveals the movement and carries a graphic inspired by San Francisco, HUF’s home city. How does it wear, and can you change the strap?
At 39.4 mm across and 48.1 mm from lug to lug, the steel case sits in the moderate-size range for a sports watch. Its 11.6 mm thickness keeps the profile relatively restrained. The 20 mm lug width is a standard strap size, so the bracelet can be swapped for compatible 20 mm straps; check the replacement strap’s fit and end style before ordering. Seiko lists a 210 mm bracelet length and 146 g weight for the watch.
Is the SRPM09 suitable for everyday wear?
The 10-bar water-resistance rating, Hardlex crystal and LumiBrite hands and indexes give it practical sports-watch equipment. The rating is not a guarantee for every water activity or a substitute for checking that the crown and case are properly secured. The day-date display and stop-seconds function add everyday utility, while the see-through screw case back provides a view of the automatic movement.
