Kiwame Tokyo launched in October 2025 with two 38 mm automatic watches, Kurotsuki and Usuki. Founded in Asakusa by watch-industry veteran Masami Watanabe, the brand describes its approach as restrained, “honest watchmaking.” The debut models share their case, movement and core specifications; their main distinction is the dial and its finishing.
Who is behind Kiwame Tokyo?
Kiwame Tokyo is a Japanese watch microbrand based in Asakusa, Tokyo. Monochrome Watches introduced the brand on 13 October 2025, identifying Masami Watanabe as its founder. The official Kiwame Tokyo website says Watanabe had more than 30 years of experience in the watch industry, first introducing overseas luxury brands to Japan and later bringing independent brands to the Japanese market.
The brand explains “KIWAME” as pursuing, refining and perfecting, and presents balance, detail, integrity and restrained design as its guiding values. These are the company’s stated principles, rather than an independent assessment of its manufacturing or quality.
At launch, Watanabe described the goal as “honest watchmaking – removing unnecessary layers, hidden costs, and artificial luxury.” Monochrome Watches also attributed to him the statement that the brand embraces modern engineering when it adds value while preserving the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship. Both are the founder’s positioning as reported by Monochrome, not a performance claim.

What are the Kurotsuki and Usuki watches?
Kurotsuki and Usuki were the two watches in Kiwame Tokyo’s October 2025 debut. Monochrome Watches reported the same case dimensions, water resistance and Miyota movement for both. Their distinct identities come from their dials and associated details.

The 20/16 mm strap notation gives the listed strap widths at the lugs and buckle, respectively. Check the particular watch’s fit and hardware before choosing a replacement.

What did the watches cost at launch, and are they available now?
Monochrome Watches reported a launch price of USD 650 in October 2025 and said the first batch of 99 pieces had sold out. The article said a second batch was planned for early November 2025. Those are historical launch details, not confirmation of today’s price, stock, shipping terms, warranty or retailer availability.
The official Kiwame Tokyo site currently shows later collections, including IWAO, MUNE, KUBO, YANE and Limited. The reviewed site content does not confirm whether Kurotsuki or Usuki is currently available. Current inventory at Amazon or other retailers has likewise not been established, so check the brand’s official site for present status rather than relying on the 2025 batch announcement.
How Kurotsuki and Usuki differ
For a choice between the two debut designs, the supported distinction is visual: Kurotsuki pairs a glossy black dial with brushed applied numerals and polished hands, while Usuki uses an ivory-toned dial, blackened numerals and a blued-steel seconds hand. Their reported case dimensions and Miyota 9039 movement are shared; the launch information gives no basis for claiming one is more accurate or performs better.
