Marnaut’s “new chapter” began in 2023 with three changes: the Croatian watch brand opened its first reported boutique on the island of Brač, moved from Miyota to Swiss Sellita automatic movements, and shifted assembly to Pforzheim, Germany. The location needs a date-qualified distinction: the June 2023 opening was reported in Supetar, while Marnaut’s current visit page lists a showroom in Bol.
What changed in 2023?
In a report published on 17 June 2023, Time+Tide described three connected developments: Marnaut’s first boutique on Brač, a transition from Miyota to Sellita movements, and assembly moving to Pforzheim. Together, those changes gave the brand a more explicitly European identity, though the evidence supports a distinction between Croatian design, Swiss movements and German assembly—not a claim that every watch component is made in Germany.
The original Brač showroom
The 2023 report places the boutique in Supetar, on Brač’s northern shore. Founder Mario Jutronić explained the choice in terms of his personal connection to the island: “I’m from Brač, and growing up, I spent my summers here. It feels natural to have our first showroom so close to home and the sea. The watches and the essence of the brand are inspired by this dramatic seascape.”
The movement and assembly shift
Time+Tide reported that Marnaut was moving away from Miyota and choosing Sellita, with assembly shifting to Pforzheim. On its current About page, Marnaut says its automatic watches use Swiss Sellita SW200-1 movements and are assembled in Pforzheim, Germany. These are brand descriptions, not an independent audit of component origins or manufacturing.

Where is Marnaut’s boutique now?
The historical and current locations should not be conflated. Time+Tide’s 17 June 2023 account reported the new boutique in Supetar; Marnaut’s current visit page lists its home showroom at Rudina 12, 21420 Bol, Croatia. The sources do not explain when or why the listed location changed.

What movement does Marnaut use, and why did it change?
Marnaut currently identifies the Sellita SW200-1 as the movement in its automatic watches. In an interview with Dart, founder Mario Jutronić described the decision as a positioning choice after returning to Croatia: he said he respected Miyota movements, particularly the 9015, but wanted Marnaut to be “more of a European offering” and began using the Swiss Sellita SW 200.
That is Jutronić’s account of the rationale, rather than an independently established cause. His interview also characterizes the watches as designed in Croatia, carrying Swiss movements and made in Germany. Marnaut’s current technical description is more specific about the German step: assembly in Pforzheim. It does not establish that all parts originate in Germany.

How to choose between them
- Safe Harbour: the smallest and least water-resistant of the three listed models, with a dressier tool-watch character.
- Seascape: the middle size and rating, distinguished by its twin-crown layout and internal bezel.
- Dark Surge: the largest and highest-rated model in the listed range, with a ceramic unidirectional bezel subject to the stated model exception.
What the 2023 models said about the transition
The 2023 report described a new Safe Harbour as a dressier 39 mm watch with a screw-down crown and caseback, rated to 100 m. It also covered an updated Dark Surge with a Sellita SW200, revised case proportions, ceramic bezels and minute markings on the dial. Those details describe the launch context in that report; the current model specifications are the better reference for today’s listed dimensions and ratings.
What “Swiss movements and German manufacturing” means
The most precise summary supported by the brand’s current descriptions is: Croatian-designed watches using Swiss Sellita movements and assembled in Pforzheim, Germany. “German manufacturing” can imply that the whole watch or all its components are German-made, which the available descriptions do not establish. Marnaut’s own broader wording and the specific assembly detail are best read with that distinction in mind.
