Short answer: The Miyota 8215 and Seiko/TMI NH36 share the same published accuracy range, while the NH36 adds a day display to its date. Their published size and calendar specifications differ, so neither is a drop-in substitute for the other. The available technical documentation does not establish reliable PT5000 specifications or comparable current prices, so a fair three-way winner cannot be named.
How the three movements compare on verified specifications
The available manufacturer and technical documents support a useful comparison of the Miyota 8215 and NH36. For the PT5000, the key details below are marked unverified rather than filled in with commonly repeated figures.

The NH36 guide gives movement dimensions and measurement conditions; these are specifications, not a guarantee of how a finished watch will keep time. Miyota’s English listing covers the 8215’s accuracy and functions, while its China page supplies the running-time, jewel and frequency figures. Miyota’s 2024 catalog also lists the 8215 at 5.67 mm high, 21 jewels and 21,600 vibrations per hour. The catalog describes the 8315 as a separate 60-hour movement; that reserve figure should not be applied to the 8215.
Does one keep time more accurately?
On the published figures available here, the 8215 and NH36 have the same nominal range: −20 to +40 seconds per day. That overlap does not establish that either is more accurate in a finished watch. Actual rate depends on the individual movement and the watch’s condition and regulation; there are no comparative timing-test results here. The NH36 document’s 23 ± 2°C condition is a technical measurement condition, not a prediction of everyday performance.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
No equivalent PT5000 specification has been verified here, so it cannot be placed above or below either movement on accuracy. For an actual purchase, seek the watchmaker’s stated regulation or a movement-specific technical document rather than treating a caliber name alone as a performance guarantee.
Which calendar and functions suit your watch?
Choose the 8215 for a date-only display
The 8215 documentation specifies a date, automatic and hand winding, quick date setting and stop-seconds. It is the simpler documented choice if the dial needs only a date window.

Choose the NH36 if you need day and date
The NH36 adds a day display alongside the date, and its technical guide specifies manual winding, quick day/date setting and stop-seconds. Check the dial’s calendar apertures and day-language requirements against the exact movement and watch configuration.
Do not assume PT5000 functions from its name
The available evidence does not verify the PT5000’s calendar or winding and setting features. Confirm these against dependable documentation for the specific movement and watch before ordering parts or planning a build.

Will one fit in place of another?
No: the published dimensions do not establish interchangeability. The 8215 is listed at 11½ lignes and 5.67 mm high; the NH36 is 27.40 mm across, 29.36 mm casing diameter with its spacer, and 5.32 mm high. Those numbers are useful checks, but a successful fit also depends on the surrounding components.
- Compare movement diameter and height with the case and movement holder.
- Check dial feet, dial opening, calendar-window position and stem position.
- Verify hand sizes, spacer requirements and crown/stem alignment for the exact watch.
- Use specifications for the particular PT5000 and case if considering that movement; its dimensions are not verified here.
The NH series has a TMI product-line page for manufacturer documentation. Treat any proposed replacement as a parts-compatibility question, not as a conclusion from similar height or diameter alone.

Is the power reserve or beat rate a deciding difference?
The cited documents put the 8215 at approximately 42 hours and the NH36 at more than 41 hours. These are close figures reported by different sources, not a controlled head-to-head measurement, so they do not establish a meaningful reserve winner. Both are listed at 21,600 beats or vibrations per hour. No comparable PT5000 data is established here.

- Start with the watch design. Decide whether the display needs date only or day-date, then match the calendar opening and language configuration.
- Confirm physical compatibility. Check the movement, dial, hands, spacer, case and stem together; the listed specifications alone do not prove a swap will work.
- Set realistic accuracy expectations. The 8215 and NH36 nominal ranges overlap. For a finished watch, look for its actual regulation information rather than inferring performance from the movement label.
- Compare seller offers on equal terms. Check region-specific price, exact caliber identity, authenticity, warranty, returns and service access. No like-for-like current price ranking is established for these three movements.
- Request PT5000 documentation. Before ranking it or committing to a build, ask for a dependable technical sheet covering accuracy conditions, features, dimensions, running time and revision.
So which movement is better overall?
There is no evidence-based overall winner across all three. Between the two documented options, the NH36 is the straightforward fit when a day-date display is required; the 8215 is a date-only option with a similar published accuracy range and closely comparable stated running time. Fit, the exact watch’s regulation, support and the seller’s terms matter more than declaring one universally superior. The PT5000 should remain unranked until its specifications and comparable pricing are verified.
