Design: a square watch with a distinctive dial
Movado describes the Heritage 1917 as a revival of its Art Deco-era square watch, highlighting refined geometry and stylized Arabic numerals. That is the brand’s account of the design, not independent verification of the collection’s historical lineage. The square case and prominent numerals give the watch a different visual character from a conventional round dress watch.
The cited configurations vary in dial color and what holds the watch on the wrist: silver-white with a black leather strap, green with a cognac leather strap, or blue with a stainless-steel bracelet. These details materially affect the look, so compare the precise reference rather than assuming every Heritage 1917 shares the same setup.
Case, movement and published specifications
Movado lists a 35mm x 45.20mm stainless-steel case for the cited silver-white leather model. The 35mm figure alone does not describe the full footprint of a square watch; the listed 45.20mm dimension is relevant when considering how the case may sit on a wrist. Actual fit and comfort depend on the wearer and have not been assessed here.

The movement is identified by Movado as a Sellita caliber, not an in-house movement. The 41-hour reserve is the manufacturer’s stated specification; no independent timing test or reserve measurement is available here. Likewise, the 3 ATM rating is best treated as a published rating, not as evidence for a particular real-world water activity.

The published information supports a specification-led assessment: a square stainless-steel case, an automatic Sellita movement, sapphire crystal, exhibition caseback and several dial-and-strap combinations. It does not establish measured accuracy, wrist comfort, finishing quality, actual power-reserve performance, durability, service interval or long-term reliability. Those are important ownership questions, but answering them would require evidence beyond the product specifications.

For a prospective buyer, the clearest reasons to consider the Heritage 1917 are its square design, stylized numerals and mechanical movement. The trade-off is that the available evidence is primarily manufacturer-provided, while the observed U.S. prices place the watch in a range where buyers may want to compare the exact configuration carefully.
