The Oris Chronoris Date is a 39 mm automatic date watch with a crown-operated inner elapsed-time bezel—not a chronograph. Oris’s current US listing for the grey-dial stainless-steel-bracelet reference 01 733 7737 4053-07 8 19 01 specifies a 19 mm interhorn width, 10 bar water resistance and a 38-hour power reserve. Those figures describe that reference; hands-on impressions below come from reviewers who covered the Chronoris Date family in 2017–2018.
Is the Oris Chronoris Date a chronograph?
No. The Chronoris Date has central hour, minute and seconds hands, a date display and an inner ring marked for elapsed minutes. It does not have chronograph pushers or a chronograph function. Hodinkee likewise distinguishes the Date from a chronograph in its hands-on coverage: Hodinkee’s Chronoris Date hands-on.
How does the inner bezel work?
A separate crown turns the inner minute ring. Set its marker to the minute hand at the start of an activity, then read elapsed minutes from the ring as the minute hand advances. It provides a straightforward elapsed-time reference, but it does not start, stop or reset a chronograph movement. WatchTime USA describes the ring as ratcheting and reports that operation was simple on its test watch: WatchTime USA’s Chronoris Date test.

What strap fits the Chronoris Date?
For the listed reference, Oris specifies a 19 mm interhorn width and lists replacement leather, textile and black rubber straps in that width. That makes 19 mm the sound starting point when shopping. Width alone does not establish fit: check the exact reference, strap-end shape and thickness, and whether the spring bars fit the strap and case.

Hodinkee’s reviewer said they tried a 20 mm NATO strap on a Chronoris Date despite the listed 19 mm lug width. That is one reviewer’s reported experience, not Oris fit advice or evidence that every 20 mm strap will work. No aftermarket strap fit is established here.
How does the Chronoris Date wear?
Hodinkee’s reviewer praised the vintage-inspired case and dial and considered the 39 mm proportions appealing. The reviewer also observed distortion toward the edge of the domed crystal and rougher-looking hand edges in macro photographs. These are subjective observations from that review, not laboratory findings.

WatchTime USA’s Alexander Krupp described the test watch as comfortable to wear and its bezel and crown as easy to operate, writing: “The Chronoris Date is a pleasure to wear and operating it is effortless.” The same test noted shortcomings in hand and caseback finishing. Those are the writer’s impressions of the reviewed sample, rather than a statement about every production example.

WatchTime USA reported that its individual test sample averaged +3.7 seconds per day on a timing machine and ran +2 to +3 seconds per day during several weeks of real-life wear. These are results for that sample and the test methods reported by WatchTime in 2018; they are not Oris’s accuracy specification, a guarantee, or a prediction for another Chronoris Date.

Which Chronoris Date details should you check before buying?
- Reference and configuration: Confirm that the dial, bracelet or strap, and reference match the watch being offered. The current US manufacturer listing above is for a grey dial on a steel bracelet; launch-era reviews describe the family and may cover different configurations.
- Fit: Use 39 mm case diameter and 19 mm interhorn width as the listed reference’s starting points. The cited reviews do not establish case thickness or lug-to-lug measurement.
- Function: Choose it for a date display and manually settable elapsed-minute ring, not for chronograph timing.
- Price and stock: Verify both with Oris or a retailer at the time of purchase; the manufacturer page’s price and online-unavailable notice are subject to change.
