The Rado Captain Cook Bronze is a 42 mm automatic dive-style watch with a bronze case, ceramic bezel insert and vintage-leaning details. The current U.S. example is reference R32504317, a green-dial model on a fabric NATO strap. Rado listed it at $3,250 and marked it out of stock when its U.S. product page was accessed on October 8, 2026; price and availability can change.
Which Captain Cook Bronze does this price describe?
Rado’s U.S. listing identifies reference R32504317 as the Captain Cook Automatic Bronze. It pairs a green dial and green fabric NATO strap with a bronze buckle. The Bronze collection has appeared in other colors and configurations, so the $3,250 U.S. listing should not be taken as a universal price for every Captain Cook Bronze reference.
The collection launched in 2020 in green, blue and grey/brown versions. Monochrome reported a launch price of CHF 2,600 at the time. That Swiss-franc launch figure and Rado’s current U.S. listing are from different dates and markets, so they are not a like-for-like price comparison.

Rado says the current R763 movement is tested in five positions. Its February 2020 press release used the designation ETA C07 for the bronze model, specifying automatic winding, 25 jewels, a date and up to 80 hours of reserve. These are source-specific movement names from different product materials; they should not be silently treated as proof that every reference or generation has identical movement specifications.

Bronze case, ceramic bezel and vintage cues
Rado’s 2020 bronze specification describes a brushed CuAl bronze case, a turning bronze bezel with a green high-tech ceramic insert, a screw-down bronze crown and a titanium screw-down caseback. It also specifies a double-sided anti-reflective, box-shaped sapphire crystal and 30 bar / 300 m water resistance. That rating belongs to the original bronze specification; the current U.S. listing details accessed for R32504317 did not state a water-resistance figure.
In his 2020 hands-on review, Brice Goulard of Monochrome describes a concave, bowl-shaped bezel, a domed sunray dial, gold-colored luminous indexes and hands, and the moving anchor emblem. He also notes the CuAl alloy’s more controlled, light surface patina compared with traditional copper-tin bronze. Patina is part of the material’s changing appearance, not a fixed finish.

How it wears, according to the reviewer
Monochrome’s review reports dimensions of 42 mm across, 12.5 mm thick and 48.6 mm lug-to-lug. Goulard describes the case as having wrist presence while remaining slim enough for casual wear, and says the shaped lugs sit well on the wrist. Those are his observations, not a guarantee of fit: wrist shape, strap choice and personal preference affect how a 42 mm watch feels.
The broad visual impression comes from the contrast between warm bronze, the green ceramic bezel and the dial’s changing sunray reflections. It gives the watch a vintage character while the ceramic insert and contemporary movement specifications distinguish it from a simple reproduction of an older Captain Cook.
