The Samsung Galaxy Watch8 Classic is real and already available. Samsung announced it on July 9, 2025, ending the leak-only phase. It combines a traditional stainless-steel design, a physical rotating bezel, a new Quick Button, Samsung Health features, Wear OS 6, and Gemini assistance. In the US, Samsung’s June 2026 MSRP lists it at $499.99 for Bluetooth/Wi-Fi or $549.99 for LTE, although current promotions and retailer prices may differ.
The main reason to buy it is the rotating bezel and classic styling. The main reasons to skip it are its large 46mm case, 63.5g listed weight, premium price, and smartwatch battery life that is measured in hours rather than days.

The leaks are no longer the story
Pre-launch reports and renders referred to Samsung’s return to the Classic format as a leak. That changed on July 9, 2025, when Samsung officially introduced the Galaxy Watch8 series, including the Galaxy Watch8 Classic. Samsung now lists the Classic as an active product in the US, with confirmed specifications, colors, connectivity options, and software features.

A reported One UI 9 Watch test build appeared on Samsung’s servers in 2026, but that is not confirmation of a public beta, final feature list, or consumer rollout date. It should not be confused with the One UI 8 Watch software associated with the product’s launch.

The “46mm” label refers to the case class, not the display diameter. The watch’s body measures about 46mm across, while its circular display is listed as 34.0mm.
Specifications are drawn from Samsung’s product page, Samsung’s 2025 Q3 report, and the company’s June 2026 US MSRP list.
Design: the rotating bezel is the point
The Watch8 Classic uses a rounded-square “cushion” case design influenced by the Galaxy Watch Ultra, but its overall presentation is more traditional. The stainless-steel case, hybrid band, and physical rotating bezel are intended to make it look and feel more like a conventional watch than the minimalist standard Galaxy Watch8.
Rotating the bezel provides tactile scrolling through menus, notifications, and compatible controls. It is a meaningful alternative to swiping on a small touchscreen, particularly when your fingers are wet or when you want to navigate without covering the display. The bezel also adds moving mechanical hardware and contributes to the Classic’s thicker, heavier profile.
A new Quick Button provides faster access to common actions. Samsung describes it as a way to launch apps, time workouts, and streamline frequently used routines. Do not assume that every function is freely remappable; available actions depend on Samsung’s software and settings.
The 46mm case will not suit every wrist. At 63.5g before considering the band, it can feel substantial during sleep or exercise. Buyers with small wrists should check the case dimensions and band fit rather than choosing by the “Classic” name alone.
Display and outdoor use
The 34.0mm Super AMOLED panel has a 438 × 438 resolution, supports an always-on display, and is advertised by Samsung at up to 3,000 nits. That brightness figure is a manufacturer peak specification, not a promise that the screen operates at 3,000 nits continuously in every lighting condition.

The result should be a strong display specification for outdoor visibility, but brightness behavior depends on automatic controls, temperature, battery settings, and the software mode in use. Always-on display can also reduce battery life, so it is one of the first settings to consider if the watch does not last through a full day and night.
Health and fitness features
Sleep tracking and Bedtime Guidance
Samsung lists sleep tracking, sleep scores, sleep analysis, vascular-stress measurement during sleep, and Bedtime Guidance. Bedtime Guidance uses three days of sleep analysis, including circadian rhythm and sleep pressure, to suggest an appropriate bedtime.
Samsung says Bedtime Guidance requires an Android phone running Android 11 or later, Samsung Health version 6.30.2 or above, and a Samsung account. That is more specific than simply saying the feature “works with Android.”
Running and workouts
Exercise tracking, Running Coach, personalized workout plans, running-level analysis, and real-time coaching are among the advertised fitness tools. Running Coach is intended to create plans based on running-level analysis. These features can help organize training, but they are coaching and wellness tools—not a replacement for a professional coach, clinical assessment, or medical advice.

The watch can provide Energy Score, stress monitoring, guided breathing, daily activity insights, and personalized wellness guidance. Samsung says stress monitoring can alert you when stress is high and offer guided breathing exercises.
Antioxidant Index and cardiovascular features
Antioxidant Index is Samsung’s lifestyle-oriented feature for diet and aging-related guidance. It should be understood as Samsung’s index and interpretation, not as a direct clinical measurement of the body’s antioxidant levels or a nutritional diagnosis.
Samsung also describes cardiovascular insights and vascular-stress measurements. Availability and function can depend on the country, compatible phone, Samsung Health or Samsung Health Monitor, software version, and regulatory authorization. Sensor readings can also be affected by fit, movement, skin contact, tattoos, sweat, and the environment.

- Signature Rotating Bezel: Physical rotating bezel provides precise, tactile navigation through apps, menus, and notifications.
Important: A score, index, estimate, or wellness alert is not automatically a medical result. Do not use the Watch8 Classic to diagnose a condition or change treatment without qualified medical advice.

Software, storage, and Gemini
The Watch8 Classic uses Samsung’s Wear OS platform, with Wear OS 6 and One UI 8 Watch associated with its launch and current product positioning. Samsung lists the Exynos W1000 five-core processor built on a 3nm process and up to 64GB of advertised storage. Advertised storage is not necessarily the same as space available to the user after the operating system and preinstalled software.
Google Gemini is integrated as a voice-accessible assistant. Samsung’s examples show voice requests being sent to Gemini, making it useful for hands-free questions or commands where supported. Gemini is not the same as fully on-device processing: behavior can depend on an internet connection, account setup, supported language, country, app versions, and phone compatibility. Watch access also does not imply that every Gemini function available on a phone is available on the watch.
Battery life, charging, and LTE
The watch has a 445mAh battery. Samsung’s US product page rates it for up to 30 hours with Always On Display enabled. That is an official estimate under Samsung’s test conditions, not a guaranteed result for every owner.
Runtime can fall with LTE, GPS workouts, high brightness, frequent notifications, calls, music streaming, sleep tracking, and weak mobile-network coverage. A buyer who wants 24/7 sleep and activity tracking should judge the watch by whether it can cover a full day plus a night—not just by the maximum advertised figure.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteBluetooth/Wi-Fi models are best for people who normally carry their phone and want to avoid cellular service charges. LTE models can support calls, messages, streaming, and notifications away from the phone in supported circumstances, but require carrier activation and a compatible plan. LTE is therefore an ownership-cost decision, not merely a $50 hardware upgrade.
Compatibility and feature dependencies
Samsung lists compatibility with Samsung Galaxy smartphones running Android 12 or later. The Watch8 Classic is not an iPhone-compatible alternative to the Apple Watch. Some basic Wear OS functions may work differently with non-Samsung Android phones, while health-monitoring features can have additional Samsung-phone, app, country, or regulatory requirements.

US price and model choice
Samsung’s June 2026 US MSRP list gives the Galaxy Watch8 Classic a $499.99 price for Bluetooth/Wi-Fi in Black or White, and $549.99 for LTE in Black or White. MSRP can differ from the live price because of promotions, trade-ins, retailer discounts, and regional pricing.
- Choose Bluetooth/Wi-Fi if your phone is usually with you, you want the lower upfront cost, and you do not want a recurring watch plan.
- Choose LTE if you regularly leave your phone behind and will actually use independent calling, messaging, streaming, or notifications. Confirm carrier support and monthly costs first.
How it compares with other Samsung wearables
Galaxy Watch8
The standard Galaxy Watch8 is the more sensible choice for buyers who prefer a lighter, thinner, minimalist watch. Samsung’s corporate specifications list the standard model at 8.6mm thick and 30g or 34g depending on size, versus the Classic’s 10.6mm and 63.5g. Choose the Classic for the bezel, Quick Button, and traditional styling—not because it is automatically better for every health or app feature.

Galaxy Watch Ultra
The Galaxy Watch Ultra is the stronger fit for rugged outdoor use and adventure-oriented buyers. Samsung’s June 2026 MSRP list places it at $649.99, above the Classic’s $499.99–$549.99 range. The Classic is more appealing for office and formal wear, physical bezel navigation, and a less overtly rugged appearance.
Galaxy Watch7
Watch7 owners should not upgrade solely because the Watch8 Classic is newer. The case for upgrading rests on the Classic’s rotating-bezel design, Quick Button, newer processor and software positioning, brighter display claim, larger advertised storage, and newer health features. If Watch7 already meets your tracking and battery needs, waiting for a discount may be more rational.
Galaxy Watch6 Classic
The Watch6 Classic remains a logical lower-cost option for anyone who mainly wants Samsung’s classic styling and rotating bezel. The Watch8 Classic is the newer platform, but the upgrade premium only makes sense if its newer hardware, software, and health tools matter to you.
Galaxy Ring
The Galaxy Ring is a better alternative for discreet sleep and health tracking without a screen, apps, calls, or watch controls. Samsung positions it as a discreet wearable with up to seven days of battery life. Choose the Watch8 Classic if you want notifications, GPS, a display, apps, and tactile controls.
Should you buy the Galaxy Watch8 Classic?
Buy it now if you use a Samsung Galaxy phone, specifically want a physical rotating bezel, like traditional-watch styling, and accept a large case and daily charging routine.

Wait for a sale if you like the design but are not in a hurry. Its premium MSRP makes discounts particularly valuable, and the older Watch6 Classic may cover the basics for less.
Choose the standard Watch8 if low weight, slimness, and a minimalist appearance matter more than the bezel.
Choose the Ultra if ruggedness and outdoor use outweigh formal styling and price.
Choose the Galaxy Ring if your priority is discreet, longer-lasting health and sleep tracking rather than smartwatch functions.
Skip it if you use an iPhone, need multi-day battery life, have a small wrist that cannot comfortably accommodate 46mm, or need a medical diagnostic device rather than a wellness wearable.
What about One UI 9 Watch?
As of August 2026, Android Central reported a One UI 9 Watch test build associated with the Galaxy Watch8 Classic. The report also noted that newer bootloader behavior could prevent rollback. Treat this as leaked testing evidence, not an official public beta or confirmed release schedule. Installing unofficial or leaked firmware can introduce bugs, affect notifications, exercise tracking, battery life, or health functions, and make returning to earlier software difficult.
