Cartier’s Roadster is back in a new collection reported in April 2026, with automotive-inspired styling and medium and large models that differ in size, movement, dial, and supplied strap. The return follows the original collection’s 2002 launch, but current stock and prices depend on the market.
Why the Roadster looks different
The Roadster’s identity comes from a tonneau-shaped case and details that evoke automotive instruments. Bucherer describes a speedometer-inspired dial, conical crown, date magnifier integrated into the case shape, and visible bezel rivets. Cartier Mexico also connects the design to 1950s car racing, and describes luminous sword-shaped hands, Roman numerals, and sapphire crystal. These are Cartier’s and a retailer’s descriptions of the design, rather than a documented statement from a named designer.
The styling is more than a conventional round watch with a sporty dial: the case and crown form part of the visual reference to cars. The bezel screws and date magnifier add further distinctive details. How the returning collection fits its history
Bucherer says the Roadster is returning after its original 2002 launch, while Hodinkee’s April 13, 2026 report describes the collection as returning after a 14-year hiatus. Those accounts frame the collection’s timeline; they do not establish that every Roadster reference was produced for the same span. Richemont’s 2004 annual report records the Roadster Chrono and a smaller ladies’ model among launches during the year under review, showing that the range had expanded early in its history.

Hodinkee’s report on the return is titled “Introducing: The Cartier Roadster Returns”. Richemont’s 2004 annual report documents the earlier models.
Medium and large Roadster models compared
Cartier’s Brazil listings provide a concrete comparison of one medium and one large automatic model. Their dimensions, movements, dial treatments, and second straps differ; neither size is a universal fit choice. The product-page specifications below refer to these exact references, not every watch in the collection.

Cartier lists the medium W2RD0011 and large WSRD0014 on its Brazil site. Hodinkee’s April 2026 report supplies the thickness and power-reserve figures in the table; its rounded case dimensions differ slightly from Cartier’s more precise dimensions. The cited Cartier pages list 10-bar water resistance for these two references. A water-resistance rating is a specification, not a claim that every strap or use is suitable for water; follow Cartier’s care guidance for the exact configuration.
Prices and availability depend on when and where you shop
Hodinkee’s April 13, 2026 launch report listed seven variants across two sizes, with reported prices starting at $9,300 for a steel midsize and $10,200 for a steel large. It marked availability “Now” at publication. These are dated, reported launch prices—not a guarantee of current US pricing or stock. The report also noted more expensive two-tone and limited gold versions.
