The Tissot PRX is a collection, not a single watch: the cited US lineup includes automatic, quartz, chronograph and titanium references in different case sizes. Start with the exact reference, then compare movement, fit, material and strap compatibility. Here is how four official examples differ.
Which Tissot PRX models are being compared?
The specifications below come from Tissot’s US product listings. They describe these references, not every watch in the PRX collection; prices, stock and regional warranty terms can change.
| Reference | Movement and functions | Case and material | Other listed specifications |
|---|---|---|---|
| T1374071104100 | Swiss automatic; date | 40 mm; 316L stainless steel | 80-hour power reserve, sapphire crystal, 10 bar water resistance, interchangeable quick-release bracelet; two-year US-page warranty |
| T1374101142100 | Swiss quartz; three hands | 40 mm; material not stated on the cited page | 10.4 mm thick, 12 mm lug width, sapphire crystal, 10 bar water resistance; compatible straps are listed |
| T1374171105100 | PowerDrive quartz chronograph; chronograph counters and functions | 41 mm; material not stated on the cited page | 11.65 mm thick, sapphire crystal, 10 bar water resistance |
| T1378074404100 | Automatic; 80-hour power reserve | 38 mm; titanium case and bracelet | Sapphire crystal, 10 bar water resistance; two-year US-page warranty |
These listings do not establish a collection-wide specification. In particular, treat the 10 bar (100 m / 330 ft) rating as a claim for the cited references, not as a guarantee for every PRX.
PRX quartz vs. Powermatic 80: which movement suits you?
Choose quartz for straightforward timekeeping
The 40 mm quartz reference uses a Swiss three-hand movement. The 41 mm chronograph is also quartz, with chronograph counters and functions. These listings establish the movement type and functions, but do not provide comparative accuracy figures or a service schedule.
#1 Best Overall
- Case Size: 40.00 millimeter; Band Width: 12 millimeter; Case Thickness: 10.40 millimeter
- Swiss quartz movement, 316L stainless steel case, Index dial type, date
- Stainless steel bracelet, butterfly clasp with push-buttons closure
- Water-resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar (100 meter / 330 feet): Suitable for short periods of recreational swimming and showering, but no diving or snorkeling.
Choose an automatic if you want a mechanical movement
The two cited automatic models list an 80-hour power reserve. Tissot says the Powermatic 80 is powered by wrist motion and can keep running when unworn for three days. That is the manufacturer’s description, not an independent accuracy test. An automatic is a practical choice if you prefer a watch powered by wear; if left unworn beyond its reserve, it will stop and need to be reset.
What size Tissot PRX should you buy?
The examples range from 38 mm to 41 mm in stated case diameter. Case diameter alone does not determine how a watch wears: case shape, thickness, bracelet and your wrist all affect fit. The cited quartz models also differ in thickness—10.4 mm for the 40 mm three-hand and 11.65 mm for the 41 mm chronograph—so consider both measurements where available. If possible, try the exact reference on your wrist rather than choosing by diameter alone.

Steel or titanium?
The 40 mm Powermatic 80 listing specifies a 316L stainless-steel case, while the 38 mm automatic specifies both a titanium case and bracelet. The cited 40 mm quartz and 41 mm chronograph pages do not establish their case material, so check the exact listing before comparing finishes or materials. The available evidence does not support a broader weight comparison.
Can you change the Tissot PRX strap?
Some cited pages identify quick-release hardware or compatible strap options, but that does not mean every PRX bracelet or strap fits every reference. The 40 mm automatic listing specifies an interchangeable quick-release bracelet; Tissot’s 40 mm quartz page lists compatible straps and gives a 12 mm lug width. Check the strap’s stated model compatibility against your watch’s full reference before ordering.
Rank #3
- Case Size: 40.00 mm, Band Width: 12 mm, Case Thickness: 10.40 mm
- Swiss quartz movement, 316L stainless steel case, Index dial type, Date
- Stainless steel bracelet, butterfly clasp with push-buttons closure
- Water-resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar (100 m / 330 ft): suitable for short periods of recreational swimming and showering, but no diving or snorkeling.
Is the Tissot PRX worth it?
That depends on which PRX you mean and what you want from it. The cited options cover automatic and quartz movements, a chronograph, different case sizes, and a titanium automatic. Compare the exact reference’s specifications and current local price rather than treating “PRX” as one fixed package. The cited US product pages list a two-year warranty for the two automatic references noted above; warranty terms for other references or markets are not established here.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Water resistance and basic care
Tissot lists 10 bar water resistance for each of the four cited references and says the cases undergo water-resistance checks. That is manufacturer information, not independent testing. Follow the guidance and limits in the manual for your exact model, especially before exposing the watch to water.
Rank #4
- Case Size: 38.00 mm, Band Width: 25mm, Case Thickness: 10.98 mm
- Automatic movement, leather strap, Index dial type, Date
- Water-resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar (100 m / 300 ft): suitable for short periods of recreational swimming and showering, but no diving or snorkeling.
Tissot’s G10 chronograph manual advises cleaning a chronograph regularly with a soft cloth and lukewarm soapy water, except for its leather strap. That manual is not PRX-specific, so do not assume its leather-strap exception or technical care instructions apply to every PRX configuration. Check the manual for your reference before cleaning.
