The 2024 40 mm Tissot Seastar 1000 Powermatic 80 adds a more compact case profile and vertically brushed gradient dials to the familiar automatic dive-watch formula. For the black-dial steel-bracelet version, reference T1208071105100, Tissot lists an 80-hour power reserve and water resistance of 30 bar (300 m / 1,000 ft). Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results; the available material does not establish personal wear impressions or a measured accuracy verdict.
Which Seastar 1000 is this?
This article focuses on the 40 mm Powermatic 80 extension announced in May 2024, not every watch sold under the Seastar 1000 name. Tissot Australia described the extension as five new 40 mm Powermatic 80 models. The official US listing identifies the black-dial steel-bracelet version as reference T1208071105100. Tissot’s US product page is the reference for the specifications and US-listed price discussed here; colors, configurations, availability, and prices can differ by market.
The Seastar 1000 family also includes a larger 43 mm Powermatic 80 automatic and quartz versions. The more capable Seastar 2000 Professional is a separate model, not another name for this 40 mm watch.
What changed with the 40 mm extension?
Tissot describes a notch along the case edges as a design change intended to make the watch appear more compact. The company also introduced vertically brushed dials that fade to black at the edges, Super-LumiNova-coated hands and markers, and a unidirectional steel bezel with a color-printed mineral glass ring. These are advertised collection features and design updates, not the results of an independent comparison with an earlier model. Tissot’s pressroom announcement describes the case change; its Australian announcement dates the launch to May 2024 and identifies five models in the extension. The 30 bar rating is the manufacturer’s stated specification. The model-specific material cited here does not establish ISO 6425 certification, nor does a depth rating by itself establish a safe real-world dive depth. Tissot describes its water-resistance testing process, but that should not be confused with independent testing of this reference.

40 mm or 43 mm: what the published figures show
Tissot’s Malaysia listing for the 43 mm Powermatic 80 reference T1204071104100 gives a useful same-family comparison. It is a different reference and regional listing, so its details should not be assumed to apply to every 43 mm version.

The official figures establish differences in diameter, thickness, lug width, and the listed bezel-ring material. They do not establish how either watch will fit a particular wrist. If possible, try both on before choosing: the 3 mm diameter difference and 1 mm lug-width difference can matter in wear, but no wrist-fit test is available here. The 20 mm width and quick-release bracelet detail apply to the cited 40 mm reference; check the exact model and release interface before buying another strap or bracelet. What can—and can’t—be said about it hands-on?
A WatchChris video dated March 17, 2024, is discoverable under a matching hands-on title and description, but the available result does not include a detailed transcript. It therefore does not substantiate specific claims about wrist comfort, finishing, bezel action, accuracy, or other firsthand observations. No independent accuracy measurements or reserve tests are established in the cited material. The strongest grounded assessment is limited to the design changes and specifications Tissot publishes; “up to 80 hours” is the brand’s stated reserve, not a measured result reported here.
