Breitling is bringing Gallet back as an entry-level luxury sister brand, giving its portfolio a second Swiss watch name built around travel, aviation, sport and chronographs. Gallet’s current collections show how that plan is taking shape; they do not yet show whether the strategy will succeed commercially.
What is Gallet’s relationship to Breitling?
Breitling announced its acquisition of Gallet in March 2025, describing the move as an expansion of its luxury-watch portfolio and positioning Gallet for a return focused on its adventure and chronograph heritage. Gallet says it was founded in 1826 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, and its current website identifies Breitling as its manufacturer. The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry (FH) described Gallet on 9 July 2026 as Breitling’s “entry-level luxury sister brand,” with the potential to use Breitling’s global distribution and after-sales network. That makes Gallet a distinct name within Breitling’s broader portfolio, rather than simply another Breitling collection. Its history across flight, racing, sailing and exploration gives the revived brand its own point of reference; Breitling supplies the manufacturing connection and, according to the FH, planned distribution and service support.

What does the acquisition mean for Gallet’s positioning?
“Entry-level luxury” signals an intended place for Gallet within Breitling’s brand lineup. It should not be read as “cheap,” nor does the label by itself establish a precise price gap between Gallet and any Breitling model. The current Gallet UK-English storefront lists watches at market-specific prices, but those listings are not a universal price ladder or a model-by-model comparison with Breitling.
The strategic logic is portfolio coverage: a second brand can address buyers drawn to Gallet’s travel and chronograph identity without making every watch carry the Breitling name. Whether that attracts new buyers, shifts existing demand between the two brands, or produces profitable growth remains unproven.

Gallet’s statement that it is manufactured by Breitling establishes a direct production relationship. Separately, the FH reported that Gallet would be able to draw on Breitling’s distribution and after-sales network. Together, those arrangements could let a revived name use capabilities that would be difficult to build from scratch.
The retail plan is narrower than a universal rollout: the FH said selected Breitling boutiques would feature Gallet spaces. That does not mean every Breitling boutique, or every territory, will carry or display Gallet. The available announcements do not quantify production, cost savings, service coverage, or retail availability by market.

What remains unknown about the acquisition
The announced strategy and the current product listings establish what Breitling says Gallet is meant to be and what collections are on offer. They do not establish demand, sell-through, revenue, profitability, forecasts, or the acquisition’s measured effect on Breitling. Nor do the cited materials disclose transaction value or detailed terms.
The FH reported on 9 July 2026 that Gallet’s official return was planned for 3 September 2026. That is a reported launch date, not evidence by itself of commercial performance after launch. The meaningful test will be whether the distinct Gallet identity and Breitling-backed operating platform translate into sustained buyer interest and a durable place alongside Breitling.
