One of Rolex’s most sought-after watches, the GMT-Master II, nicknamed “Batman,” is a timepiece made of durable and scratch/fade-resistant model with a ceramic bezel and the distinct two-toned, blue-black bezel.
Rolex introduced the new generation GMT-Master II in 2005. The ceramic bezels, which the brand called Cerachrom, initially had only one color (black), as Rolex declared that a two-tone bezel would not be possible with ceramic. This was changed, however, in 2013 when the brand released the GMT-Master II ref. 116710BLNR with a blue and black Cerachrom bezel—what is now known as the Rolex “Batman” watch.
The demand is high, the waitlist is long, and the price tags are steep, so if you’re looking for a Rolex Batman alternative watch, you can also opt for the watches we’re featuring below.
Best Rolex Batman Alternatives
Rolex did not officially use the term, but the nickname caught on after the 2013 release. Released at Baselworld, this type of bezel was a first of its kind, and an impressive release by the brand as the Cerachrom previously could not create a two-tone bezel.
According to an article on Bob’s Watches, the original Rolex Batman watch had new features like a smoother 24-hour hand, a new bezel mounting, and an improved water-resistance. You can learn more about the Rolex Batman’s history here.
If you’re looking for a similar-looking design, here are some of the best alternative watched models that you can consider in place of a Rolex.
