Hands-On: Crafter Blue Mechanic Ocean Mark II Dive Watch Review

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Crafter Blue Mechanic Ocean Mark II pairs a 41 mm steel case with a Miyota 9015 automatic movement and a manufacturer-stated 300 m water-resistance rating. Its main fit question is the 51.5 mm lug-to-lug length: Fratello reviewer Lex Stolk found it comfortable on his 18 cm wrist but cautioned it could be long on smaller wrists. Crafter Blue lists black and gradient gray/white versions at US$449; check the live listing for current stock.

How the Mechanic Ocean Mark II wears

Diameter alone does not tell the whole fit story. Crafter Blue lists the case at 41 mm across and 13.5 mm thick, while Fratello reports a 51.5 mm lug-to-lug measurement and 22 mm lug spacing. That relatively long span is the key measurement to compare with a watch that already fits you.

In his January 9, 2025 hands-on review, Lex Stolk said the length might challenge smaller wrists, but the watch sat comfortably on his 18 cm wrist. He wore the gray version most and described the silhouette as elegant. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a fit guarantee. The stated dimensions are on Crafter Blue’s MO2SS007 product page; the wrist impressions and lug-to-lug figure are from Stolk’s Fratello review.

What differs between the MO2SS001 and MO2SS007?

The documented distinction between the two regular references is the dial treatment: MO2SS001 is black, while MO2SS007 has a white dial with a gradient gray appearance. Fratello’s review author liked both and personally preferred the gray version. The available sources do not establish a performance difference between them.

Case, dial, bezel and strap details

  • Case: Crafter Blue specifies 316L stainless steel, a 41 mm diameter, 13.5 mm thickness and a stainless-steel case back.
  • Crystal and crown: The brand lists a domed sapphire crystal and screw-in crown.
  • Bezel: The manufacturer specifies a 120-click unidirectional bezel with a DLC-coated insert.
  • Dial and lume: The MO2SS007 listing describes a white dial with gradient gray and Swiss Super-LumiNova BGW9. These are manufacturer-listed features, not independent assessments of legibility or lume performance.
  • Strap: Crafter Blue lists an FKM rubber strap with separate end links and 22 mm lug width. Stolk described the strap as soft and qualitative and gave its dimensions as 22/20 mm. A generic 22 mm strap may fit the lugs but will not necessarily match the separate end-link shape or integrated appearance; confirm fit before buying a replacement.

Specifications above are from the official MO2SS007 listing; strap impressions are from Fratello.

Movement and timekeeping claims

The watch uses a Japan-made Miyota 9015 automatic movement. Crafter Blue lists stop-seconds and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Fratello reports a 42-hour power reserve and an accuracy specification of -10/+30 seconds per day. That range is a stated specification, not a result from an independent timing test of the review sample or every individual watch.

The Miyota movement offers a date display, as listed by the manufacturer. For the movement details and the distinction between specifications and measured performance, see the brand listing and Fratello’s review.

What the 300 m rating does—and does not—establish

Crafter Blue and Fratello both state a water-resistance rating of 300 m (the brand also gives 999 ft), alongside the screw-in crown and unidirectional bezel. These are published product specifications. The cited sources do not document an independent pressure test or underwater test of the watch, so the rating should not be treated as evidence of a particular specimen’s tested condition or ongoing water resistance.

Is the Mechanic Ocean Mark II worth considering?

The published package is substantial on paper for the brand-listed US$449: steel construction, a domed sapphire crystal, a 300 m rating, and a Miyota 9015 automatic movement. Stolk’s review found the styling appealing and the price attractive, but those are his judgments rather than controlled comparisons with other divers.

The most useful deciding points are practical: compare the 51.5 mm lug-to-lug length against your wrist and existing watches; choose between black and gradient gray/white by appearance; and verify the exact reference, price and stock at the point of purchase. The official October 15, 2024 preorder announcement records the original launch offer, but it is not a current availability listing.
