Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchTo check a watch’s accuracy at home, compare it with a trusted time reference, record how far ahead or behind it is, then repeat the comparison after a consistent interval of normal use. Divide the change in offset by the elapsed days to estimate its daily rate. This works for any watch you can read; a timegrapher is an optional, different kind of check for mechanical watches.
Check a watch’s rate by tracking its time against a reference
- Choose a trusted reference. Use a reliable time source synchronized to an official standard, rather than assuming an unsynchronized phone, computer, or clock is correct. NIST describes comparing a clock with an official time source and gives radio and telephone time services as examples: NIST’s timekeeping and clocks FAQs.
- Record the starting time and offset. Note the date and reference time, then record whether the watch is ahead of or behind that reference, as precisely as its display allows. For example, an offset of +8 seconds means the watch is eight seconds ahead.
- Use the watch normally for a set interval. After a chosen number of days, compare it with the same reference again and record the new offset. A longer interval reduces the influence of small reading or synchronization differences. Keep the watch’s use pattern reasonably consistent, especially if it is mechanical.
- Calculate the daily rate. Subtract the starting offset from the ending offset, then divide by the number of elapsed days. A positive result means the watch gained time; a negative result means it lost time.
- Repeat if the result will guide a decision. Record relevant conditions—such as wear, winding, and how the watch rested—so you can tell whether a change is repeatable or reflects different use.
Formula: daily rate in seconds per day = (ending offset − starting offset) ÷ elapsed days.

Example: A watch starts 4 seconds behind (−4 seconds) and, after 5 days, is 11 seconds ahead (+11 seconds). Its offset changed by 15 seconds, so its estimated rate is +3 seconds per day.

| Method | What it tells you | Compatibility and effort | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elapsed-time comparison | How much time the watch gained or lost during the interval you tracked. | Works with any watch whose display can be read; needs a trusted reference and careful notes, but no specialized equipment. | Estimating the watch’s rate in ordinary use. |
| Timegrapher | An estimate of movement rate and related measures based on the ticks of a mechanical watch, under the test conditions and position. | Requires a timegrapher or microphone-based tool and a mechanical watch that produces audible ticks. The cited online tool describes itself as intended for mechanical and automatic watches; quartz watches do not produce audible ticks. See Timegrapher.watch. | A quick movement check or diagnostic snapshot, not a substitute for tracking everyday performance. |
Some app listings describe microphone-based rate, beat-error, and amplitude readings. Those feature descriptions do not, by themselves, establish measurement accuracy; for example, see the listing for ChronoLog on the App Store.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Understand what a timegrapher reading can—and cannot—show
A timegrapher estimates movement behavior from audible ticks at a particular moment and in a particular position. That snapshot may help identify a possible movement issue, but it does not establish how the watch will perform across a day of wear. Manufacturer guidance notes that mechanical-watch rate can change with position, wear duration, temperature, arm movement, and winding state.
For an everyday-use estimate, the elapsed-time method captures the accumulated result of those conditions over the period you actually wore or stored the watch. If you use a timegrapher, treat its result as complementary rather than interchangeable with that real-world rate.

Compare the result with the exact watch’s specification
There is no single daily-rate limit that applies to every watch. Use the manual or official accuracy guidance for your exact model or movement, and check how the stated target is defined. Manufacturer figures illustrate why model-specific comparison matters:

| Manufacturer guidance | Published daily-rate target | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Grand Seiko mechanical-watch accuracy guidance | −1 to +10 seconds per day; −1 to +8 seconds per day for Cal. 9S27. | Targets for normal use of the referenced mechanical watches, stated in 2021. |
| Seiko 6R21 instructions | −15 to +25 seconds per day. | Model-specific range for the 6R21 under normal-temperature conditions; the document cautions that actual daily rate depends on use conditions. |
These figures are not universal tolerances. A rate outside another watch’s range is not meaningful evidence unless that range applies to your watch and uses comparable conditions.

When to investigate further
If repeated elapsed-time checks show a rate outside the published range for your exact watch, or results vary unexpectedly, consult the manufacturer’s guidance or a qualified watchmaker. Consistent notes about the interval and use conditions can help explain what you observed. A timegrapher reading may add a movement snapshot for a mechanical watch, but it cannot on its own determine the watch’s performance in normal wear.
