Reference 1121 (1121.SB on the US site) combines a 37 mm case and hand-wound movement with date and power-reserve displays. Its metallic light-blue dial has its own coordinated markers and indicator. Other Metro colors belong to models that can differ in size, movement, functions, and strap as well as appearance.
What is the Metro Ice Blue, exactly?
NOMOS calls the watch the Metro date power reserve ice blue. Its reference is 1121, with the US-market page using 1121.SB. The stainless-steel case measures 37 mm across, 7.9 mm thick, and 43.6 mm from lug to lug. The listed water resistance is 5 atm, which NOMOS describes as splash-proof; that rating should not be read as a swimming or diving recommendation. The strap is 18 mm wide.

Inside is the hand-wound DUW 4701. The watch has a date and a power-reserve display, a quick-set date, and a stated power reserve of up to 52 hours. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently tested results. See NOMOS’s US product page for reference 1121.SB.

The dial is more than a plain light-blue surface. NOMOS describes it as metallic light blue, with blue and white dots, gray minute numerals, and a light-blue seconds hand. The power-reserve display uses white, light blue, and teal. The colors and markers make this variant’s visual treatment distinct from other Metro models; they do not turn those models into color-only versions of reference 1121.

Which differences matter most when choosing?
Winding and movement
The Ice Blue 1121 is manually wound and uses the DUW 4701. The cited neomatik models are automatic and use the DUW 3001; NOMOS lists up to 43 hours of power reserve for those examples. This is a configuration difference, not a consequence of dial color.

Size and proportions
The cited Metro examples range from 33 mm for the Metro 33 all silver to 38.5 mm for the Metro neomatik 39 models. The Ice Blue is 37 mm. Case diameter alone does not tell the whole fit story: lug-to-lug length and thickness are also useful dimensions to compare when those measurements are listed.
Functions
The Ice Blue adds a date and power-reserve display. The cited Metro 33 all silver and 35 mm midnight-blue neomatik list small seconds, while the Metro neomatik 39 examples list up to 43 hours of power reserve. Check the individual reference rather than assuming complications carry across the color lineup.

Dial character
The alternatives have distinct graphic treatments: the 35 mm midnight-blue neomatik pairs green minute markers with an orange seconds hand; the silvercut uses a brushed rhodium-plated dial with red accents; and the Metro 33 all silver uses gray details on a sunburst silver-plated surface. Ice Blue’s power-reserve colors and blue-and-white markers are specific to its design.

How to make a fair comparison
- Match the reference first. Confirm whether you are looking at 1121 or 1121.SB, or a different Metro reference. A model name or dial color by itself is not enough to establish that the watches share a configuration.
- Compare dimensions. Check diameter, lug-to-lug length, thickness, and strap width where NOMOS lists them. The family includes materially different case sizes.
- Check the movement and winding. Distinguish a hand-wound model such as the 1121 from automatic neomatik references.
- Compare functions and dial together. Note whether the reference has a date, power-reserve indicator, or small seconds, then assess its specific markers, hands, and finish.
- Use the same market when checking price or delivery. NOMOS’s US listing showed USD 4,210 and a six-month delivery time when accessed; its European listing showed EUR 3,500 for reference 1121. These are separate regional listings, not a currency conversion or a like-for-like tax comparison, and availability and delivery can change.
