Which Ingenieur Automatic 35 is this?
This article is about reference IW324901: the stainless-steel version with a silver-plated dial. It is one specific model in the broader Ingenieur Automatic 35 family, so details such as dial color or bezel materials should not be assumed to apply to every version. IWC introduced the 35 mm range in April 2025 with three watches: a gold model, the silver-dial steel IW324901, and a black-dial steel IW324906. The design draws on the Ingenieur SL reference 1832, associated with Gérald Genta’s 1970s work. Its recognizable elements include the five-screw bezel, integrated bracelet, grid-pattern dial, and applied indices, as described in IWC’s 2025 launch announcement.
The family has since grown: IWC announced a blue-dial steel version and a steel version with an 18-carat 5N gold diamond-set bezel in April 2026. Those are separate variants, not details of the silver-dial IW324901; see IWC’s 2026 family update.

What does the one-week review say about wearing it?
In Fratello’s week-long review, Mike Stockton wore the watch during a trip away from home that included woodland, a hike to a waterfall, a warmly lit cabin, and nighttime conditions. He found that the integrated bracelet made the 35 mm watch feel more substantial on the wrist than the case diameter alone might imply. He also considered the smaller dial opening legible.
Those are Stockton’s qualitative impressions, not measured results or a promise about how the watch will fit every wearer. The design’s integrated bracelet and broad visual identity can influence perceived presence, so 35 mm on its own does not settle whether it will feel small or large to you. Trying it on is the most reliable way to judge the fit.

All figures in the table are IWC’s published specifications for IW324901, rather than independent measurements. A 42-hour stated reserve means that if the watch is left unworn beyond that interval, it may stop and need to be reset before wearing again.

The case’s published diameter and height provide a starting point, but the week-long review suggests the integrated-bracelet design can wear with more presence than a simple diameter comparison predicts. Dial opening, bracelet fit, and the watch’s proportions matter too. If you are comparing Ingenieur sizes or variants, compare the exact reference’s dimensions, dial, materials, water resistance, movement reserve, and local price rather than transferring specifications between models.
