Sellita is a Swiss movement manufacturer, not a watch brand. Founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1950, it supplies mechanical calibres to watch companies, which then regulate, finish, case and service them as part of complete watches. The name “Sellita” identifies the movement maker; it does not, by itself, guarantee a watch’s accuracy, finishing or value. To judge a Sellita-equipped watch, verify the exact calibre and version, dimensions, functions, stated power reserve, brand implementation and service arrangements.
What is Sellita?
Sellita Watch Co. S.A. says it was founded in 1950 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, and describes itself as an independent supplier serving watch brands. On its company page, Sellita says it controls essential stages of movement design, manufacture and assembly. It identifies Gurofa as its movement-blank factory and Technicor as its electroplating and decoration business, and says its expertise extends to the regulating organ.

Sellita describes its commercial position this way: “Proud of its independence, Sellita caters for all brands and treats all its clients on equal terms.” That is a company statement, not an independent audit of production scale or quality. No independently verified workforce or annual-output figure is established here.

Sellita’s current movement listing includes the SW100, SW200, SW210, SW300, SW400, SW500, SW510, SW515, SW530, SW560, SW600 and SW1000 families, along with variants and “M” versions. The same listing groups functions such as automatic or manual winding, date, day, month, moon phase, GMT, small seconds, chronograph counters, monopusher operation and power-reserve indication.
#1 Best Overall
A family name is only a starting point. The exact reference determines the functions, dimensions and technical specifications. When a watch listing says only “Sellita movement,” ask for the full calibre designation and version before comparing it with another watch.
What the calibre name does not tell you
- It does not establish a watch’s measured accuracy or shock resistance.
- It does not reveal the regulator adjustment, decoration or rotor design selected by the watch brand.
- It does not prove that two watches using the same family receive identical finishing or quality control.
- It does not establish service cost, turnaround time or parts availability for a particular watch.
SW200-1 versus SW300-1
The 2024–2025 Sellita catalogue lists both calibres at 25.60 mm in diameter, but the SW300-1 is substantially thinner. Sellita describes the SW300-1 as intended for thinner watches and the upper price segment. That is a dimensional and positioning distinction, not proof that every SW300-1 is more accurate or durable than every SW200-1.
| Calibre | Catalogue diameter | Catalogue height | What the difference means |
|---|---|---|---|
| SW200-1 | 25.60 mm | 4.60 mm | A thicker automatic platform; the exact functions depend on the variant. |
| SW300-1 | 25.60 mm | 3.60 mm | One millimetre thinner, which can help a brand design a slimmer case; Sellita positions it for thinner watches and the upper price segment. |
Case architecture, dial height, crystal, hands and the brand’s own construction also affect final watch thickness. Therefore, do not infer a watch’s complete dimensions from the movement height alone.
The SW200-2 Power+ update
Sellita’s official announcement calls the SW200-2 Power+ “a major evolution” of the SW200-1 and states a 65-hour power reserve. A related Sellita technical-information document dated 4 June 2025 says movements incorporating the listed changes are marked “SW200-2”; components not covered by that document remain unchanged, and the corresponding technical documentation should be consulted for specifications.

- Date Adjustment Quick Adjustment
- Type of Movement Automatic Movement Welcome to inquire
This is a distinct version announcement. “SW200” on a product page does not automatically mean SW200-2 Power+, and an older SW200-1 should not be described as having the Power+ changes. Require the complete version marking when the power-reserve figure matters to your purchase.
Which watches use Sellita calibres?
Frederique Constant’s official technical information lists Sellita SW200 movements in several Classics Automatic models, including Classics Automatic Moon Date and Classics Automatic GMT examples. It lists SW300 movements in Slimline Automatic models. These listings demonstrate use in finished watches; they do not confirm current stock, pricing or the movement in every watch carrying one of those collection names.
For a specific model, match the exact reference number to a current brand specification or seller listing. A collection name alone is not enough, because brands can change suppliers or versions between references and production periods.

1. Identify the exact reference and version
Look for a designation such as SW200-1 or SW200-2, not merely “SW200.” If the listing omits the suffix, ask the seller or brand for written confirmation.

2. Check the function set
Confirm whether the watch has date, day, GMT, chronograph or another complication, and verify that the complication belongs to the stated variant. Sellita’s family pages contain multiple versions with different functions.
3. Compare dimensions against the case
Use the published movement height to understand design constraints, then check the complete watch’s thickness and lug geometry. The SW300-1’s 3.60 mm catalogue height can support a thinner design, but it does not determine the finished case by itself.
4. Treat power reserve as version-specific
Use only the figure attached to the exact calibre. The 65-hour claim belongs to Sellita’s SW200-2 Power+ announcement, not to every SW200 movement.

5. Assess the brand’s implementation
Ask whether the brand publishes regulation standards, testing, decoration and warranty terms. Two watches with the same base calibre can differ materially in adjustment, finishing, dial-side construction and quality control.

6. Confirm the service route
Keep the watch brand and its authorized or qualified service provider as your first contact. Sellita’s customer-service portal is business-facing: it covers quotations, spare-parts information, order tracking and repair tracking, requires an account, and explicitly says Sellita does not sell movements to individuals.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is a Sellita movement “good”?
There is no single yes-or-no answer based on the name alone. Sellita is an established Swiss supplier with a broad catalogue and documented manufacturing capabilities. The practical quality of a watch depends on the exact calibre and version, the brand’s adjustment and finishing, the case and dial construction, and the support available after purchase.
The available manufacturer material does not establish a controlled accuracy or durability ranking between the SW200 and SW300 families, or between complete watches that use them. Choose on documented specifications and the whole watch rather than assuming that a calibre label is a universal quality grade.

Buying and servicing guidance
- Request the exact movement reference, including its suffix or generation.
- Verify the movement against the watch’s reference-specific technical page.
- Check the stated thickness, functions and power reserve for that version.
- Ask who performs warranty and post-warranty service and whether the brand supports your region.
- Do not treat a bare-movement listing as a manufacturer-supported consumer purchase: Sellita says it does not sell movements to individuals.
